Uncommon                 Gavel

- The John Carpenter -

Material: Figured Maple

Pieces of highly flamed maple, which were cutoffs from a larger piece used to make a cello neck, were used to make this lodge presentation gavel.  The gavel was French polished, and "aged" with oil colors and dirt.  The last photograph shows the starting color of the maple.  A brass plaque bears the dedication.
